Nanopore sequencing is a molecular sensing technology that determines DNA or RNA sequences by measuring fluctuations in ionic current as individual nucleotides pass through nanoscale pores embedded in a membrane. Oxford Nanopore Technologies portable MinION Mk1D system integrates this sequencing method into a compact, field-deployable device that connects to a laptop via USB-C and performs real-time basecalling using the laptop's GPU. The technology addresses several key operational needs e.g. Open-ended biological detection, Rapid situational awareness, Field deployability and portability.
